JJV's Offs

On 04/10/2026

Hello everyone!

Welcome to a new opus of "JJV Offs"!

“ Imagination is the source of all inventions.”

Every invention stems from a creative idea to improve or revolutionize everyday life. We start with an idea and then try to implement it, often making mistakes, but always using that experience to progress.

I knew perfectly well when I created the store that I intended to get people playing board games, not just sell them.

Because before being an independent shop owner, I've been a passionate gamer since I was very young. So when I was told that board games wouldn't work in Vaison, I still wanted to launch my concept of a store and events. They started off well in the store before Covid, and I was happy when they also developed well in different venues afterward. It just goes to show that when you have a vision and persevere, it can eventually become a reality. ;) At the beginning, you're never completely ready; you still have to launch your project, because it's our mistakes that lead to our greatest learning. Failing is always a learning experience if you analyze what you missed. You don't start from scratch, but from the experience you gained.

What I love about board games is that the themes are so varied that you can adapt them to any event you organize. Whether it's adapting games to a life-size format, as I've done many times, or adapting games to the audience and theme, it's always a pleasure.

I've created unique moments for you. ;)

Good day and good game! ;)

Thegardens

2 words game The Gardens

On 02/10/2026

Hello everyone !

Today we're going to talk about Whistle Stop!

Create your own railway network, for 2 to 5 players, ages 13 and up, for 75 minutes, to stand out and hear the train whistle!

The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney holds a special place in the hearts of Sydneysiders. World-renowned for its location, beauty, and historical and scientific significance, each of its 30 hectares is not only breathtaking but also a peaceful haven away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

In a game of The Gardens, each player collects 24 cards to place on their individual player board. The game is played over 8 rounds, during which each player collects 3 cards.

In each round, the player with the "Beginner" token starts by choosing a card to place on their board, and so on. Then, each player takes their turn. Once each player has taken and placed 3 cards, a new round begins, and the "Beginner" token passes to the next player seated to the left of the previous player.

On your turn, proceed as follows in this order: choose a card from those displayed, decorate your garden by adding the card to your player board, and guide your visitor through your garden to your new card. You must first choose a face-up card from those displayed. On your first turn, you can choose a card from any row (A, B, or C).

After each turn, you can only choose a card from a row where you haven't yet drawn a card. At the end of the turn, you will have drawn exactly: one card from row A, one from row B, and one from row C.

After choosing a card, place it on the corresponding row of your player board (an "A" card on the top row, a "B" card on the middle row, and a "C" card on the bottom row).

Each chosen card must be placed on your player board in the first available space, either to the left or right of the central board. There must never be any empty spaces between your cards.

Therefore, the first card chosen in each row must be placed next to the central board, either to its left or right. Next, cards can be placed next to the leftmost or rightmost card in your row.

As the game progresses, you will reach a point where you can no longer choose to place each new card at the far left or right of its row, because you can never place cards outside the player boards!

After placing the chosen card, your Visitor takes a walk. Move your Visitor, always on the same row, from their current position to the new card you just placed. The Visitor "visits" this new card, and depending on what they "see" on it (and what they saw along the way), you can score points!

If the new card depicts a Focal Tree, a Fountain, or a Bench, you score points immediately (see below and on the Score Tiles).

Remember that on each walk, the Visitor discovers the starting card, the ending card (which is always the one you added to the row this turn), and all the cards in between.

Record your points by moving your Visitor along the score track. If your Visitor stops on a card depicting a target tree, count the number of identical trees they passed along their walk.

Count the tree(s) shown on the visited card, as well as all trees of the same species on the intersecting cards. Award 1/3/6/10 points for 1/2/3/4 identical trees.

If your Visitor stops on a card with a Fountain, count the number of individual Streams on all the cards they saw during their walk. Score 1 point for each Stream.

If your Visitor stops on a card with a Bench, count the number of Garden cards adjacent to the card, either orthogonally or diagonally. Score 1 point for each card adjacent to the bench.

If the new card contains a Statue or a Stream without a Fountain, you do not score any points for this turn. These elements will score points at the end of the game. Your network of connected paths will also score points at the end of the game.

The round ends when all the cards on the board have been chosen and the players have finished their turn. To prepare for the next round, each player must reset all their Visitors (keeping each one on the Garden card they visited during the round).

The game ends after the 8th round, when the players' gardens are full and each row is filled with cards. All players can then score bonus points, as explained below.

The player with the most points wins! In case of a tie, the winner is the tied player who played last in the final round.

Good day and good game ;)

JJV's Offs

On 27/09/2026

Hello everyone!

Welcome to a new opus of "JJV Offs"!

“Invention is the result of creative thinking and hard work.”

When we create something, we often have an idea in mind that is sometimes a little vague. And then, we end up making it a reality and we realize that other people are behind our project.

Naturally curious and persevering, despite the “that will never work” and “board games suck, pfff” or even the “it’s going to close soon anyway, this shop is bad luck”; I believed it.

I did well to persevere, because it is clear that not only have board games in and around Vaison found their fans, but they have been doing so for 8 years now!

I was even offered to buy the store and its concept by modifying it to make it even more profitable... and I refused. Money can't buy everything, not even principles...

I created the store so that it would not be like some other stores in the same field: “elitist”. This is what annoys me a little sometimes, when I see certain colleagues who see beginners as a “waste of time” for them…

It’s such a shame, when beginner players come to take the step of looking for something to learn about games, to make them understand “that it’s not for them”. We have so many choices of games now that we are bound to find something that will interest even beginners.

Then there are people who come with requests for strange games... Like card games without cards, or even board games but without the board, etc... Or people who come from always the same ^^ to ask for a game and when I have it say to myself "ah well no, I wouldn't buy it from you anyway".

What do you want me to say to these kinds of people, I say “good to you” and wish them a good day. I don't plan on wasting time explaining things to people who are determined to only want a version of me that fixes them...

The version they have of me is their responsibility not mine. If they don't have a good one, it's probably because I put limits on their abuse or defended myself. If they don't like it, it doesn't bother me as long as I haven't done anything wrong to them. Everyone is free and alone with their conscience and mine is doing quite well. :)

And curiosity, so I don't lack that...^^ Always ready to discover new things about the world of games, but not only in life in general. My questions are sincere and do not come from bad intentions, I don't know how to do it.

But I also don't know how to let myself be walked on. Some will call it an oversized ego, I call it respect for oneself and where it needs to start in order to be able to give it back to others...

If you are curious about who I am, believe everyone who talks about me. Because whatever they say, they got the version of me they deserved since I'm just a mirror. ;)

Good day and good game! ;)

Whistlestop

2 words game Whistle Stop

On 25/09/2026

Hello everyone !

Today we're going to talk about Whistle Stop!

Create your own railway network, for 2 to 5 players, ages 13 and up, for 75 minutes, to stand out and hear the train whistle!

In 1869, the first transcontinental railroad in the United States was completed with the laying of the golden spike in Utah.

But this was just the beginning of a rapid expansion of the railroad network that would soon cover the entire country.

Starting on the East Coast, take control of a fledgling railroad company and build your lines, load valuable cargo, and deliver goods to burgeoning cities. Acquire shares in other companies and increase your reputation with each new delivery. Then, finish your journey in style by delivering to the thriving cities of the West!

Each player's goal is to earn their railroad company more renown points than the opposing companies.

Starting with the player to the right of the first player and proceeding counterclockwise, players take turns placing one train at one of the 16 stations on the East Coast until all trains are placed. Each of these stations can only accommodate one train.

The game is played over several rounds, indicated by the round track. When the first player distributes tokens from this track, a new round begins.

At the start of each of their turns, the first player distributes the tokens from the next space on the round track equally to all players, including themselves (1 whistle token or 2 coal tokens per player). Then, they play their turn normally.

On their turn, a player can either spend up to 4 tokens (coal or whistle) to move their trains or spend resources to purchase up to 2 upgrades.

The player can perform these actions in any order. They can choose to perform only one of the two, or neither. A player can only move their own trains, not those of their opponents.

As the player spends tokens, they place them on the numbered spaces on their player board (4 spaces allowing up to 4 actions). At the end of the round, these tokens are discarded into the token pool.

For the first round, the first player distributes the tokens from the space indicating the number of players in the current game.

Spend one coal token to move one of your trains along a track to a new column to the West (left), or up or down within the same column. End your move at the first station or special tile encountered along the way.

A train cannot use coal to return to a tile in a previous column. The train must follow one of the tracks printed on the tile. A train cannot move onto a freight station or an East Coast station (round spaces) if an opponent's train is present. Special tiles (large hexagon) can accommodate multiple trains at once.

A train can move through multiple tiles to reach the next stop. Your train can pass (but not stop) at a freight yard or at an East Coast yard occupied by another of your trains.

A train reaching a West Coast arrival tile is immediately placed on the resource track (it cannot move again from the arrival tile).

Spend a whistle token to move one of your trains one or two stations (or a special tile) in any direction. This allows you to move to a tile east of your starting tile (this is the only way to move back).

Do not collect any tokens or resources from tiles you pass through without stopping. You can pass through stations occupied by other players. If you use a whistle token to avoid an arrival tile, ignore all effects of that tile and simply place the train on the resource track.

If a move takes your train to the end of a tile's track, leading to an empty space, place a tile from your hand that matches the track, then move your train onto that new tile. If this tile doesn't have a station (or isn't a special tile), place a second tile so your train can continue its journey.

If there's still no possible stop on this tile, place the third tile from your hand to continue the train's advance. The third tile must have a station (or be a special tile) for the train to complete its journey.

At the end of their turn, a player must replenish their hand to 3 tiles if necessary. They take tiles from the face-up tiles and/or from the face-down draw pile. Then, they reveal new tiles if needed, so that there are always 3 face-up tiles next to the tile pile. Then, the next player takes their turn.

When it's the first player's turn again, they distribute the tokens for the next space on the round track before taking their turn. On the final turn, there's no need to replenish your hand to 3 tiles. If you cannot or do not wish to move a train during your turn, you gain 1 whistle token and take no movement actions that turn. You may, however, purchase upgrades if you wish.

You can purchase up to 2 upgrades at any time during your turn. To purchase 1 upgrade from the supply, spend the resources indicated at the top of the upgrade tile, then place the tile in one of the 3 upgrade spaces on your player board.

To purchase 1 upgrade from an opponent (without needing their permission), spend the resources indicated at the top of the upgrade tile, pay that player 1 rare resource of your choice, then place the tile in one of the 3 upgrade spaces on your player board. The fame points shown in the star will be awarded to the player who owns the tile at the end of the game.

The game ends at the end of the last round, or at the end of the round in which a player places their last train on the resource track.

For each railway company, the player with the most railway shares in that company earns 15 renown points. In case of a tie, the player with the share with the lowest number wins.

The player with the most points wins the game.

Good day and good game ;)

JJV's Offs

On 20/09/2026

Hello everyone!

Welcome to a new opus of "JJV Offs"!

“Invention is the result of creative thinking and hard work.”

When we have a business creation project, we quite often want to share products and/or services that are useful and pleasant to people. And then, we think about how to make them known and make customers want to discover them.

Creativity is also very often useful and available to offer products in an original way. In my case, I chose to offer you classic board games, but not only that…

I also like to offer you lesser-known games and small independent game publishing houses or small or medium-sized groups. For what ? Quite simply because they offer choices of different mechanics and themes.

Because if they want to be able to sell their games, they have to make the extra effort to stand out. They do not have the notoriety and advertising strength of a major board game brand. So, they need to find a game mechanic and a game theme that will inspire players. I am thinking for example of Hive from Ludidistri who managed to win several prizes through reflection and perseverance but above all, through passion.

Because being passionate means above all loving what you do and giving yourself the means to follow this passion. This is what I really appreciate with all the independents and small people who make up the gaming world and who share their passion with us…

I am very happy to be able to share my passion for games with you and to be able to offer you original games in addition to the classics. In addition, you play the game by giving them a chance and discovering them.

Many of you tell me that they like coming to my house because my choice of games is original and interesting. This is also what my customers from the rest of France and Europe come to look for when they buy from me.

Because before selling you board games, I am above all an inveterate gamer and passionate collector. So yes, I also like to introduce you to games that are not common. ;)

Good day and good game! ;)

Siliconvalley

2 words game Silicon Valley

On 18/09/2026

Hello everyone !

Today we're going to talk about Silicon Valley!

Innovative start-ups, from 1 to 4 players and from 14 years old for 60 to 90 minutes, stand out to make your project succeed!

Silicon Valley is a business management game based on action choice, resource management and engine building mechanics. The game continues over an indefinite number of rounds until a player's business reaches a value of one billion dollars (= VPs).

A round is made up of two phases. One where each player, in turn, performs 3 actions from a choice of 8 actions. And one where companies will receive their income in resources and PVs and will have to pay their costs (employee salaries, infrastructure costs and research and development of their products).

The players will therefore essentially build an engine where they will hire employees who will produce work in the form of polyominoes which they will be able to spend to manufacture products which will earn them VPs or to invest in venture capital (VC) in order to earn money and small bonuses to optimize.

By paying money, companies will be able to hire employee cards (available on a river of cards) which will produce, directly and on each turn, certain types of polyominoes. You will use these polyominoes to invent new products. These products are represented by large cards representing a diagram that will have to be filled with polyominoes.

When you choose to carry out the action of inventing a new product, you must have the space in your company to be able to produce it, and you must place your polyominoes there in order to fill all the boxes on the product card. You will then gain VPs and a little money directly as well as each turn, in the form of income.

The really cool thing is that other players can also launch the same product as you. Obviously, the first to invent a product has a greater bonus than the followers but it is not uninteresting to be a follower. Indeed, when you launch a product invented by someone else, the inventor's income at each turn will drastically decrease while yours will be higher. You will therefore have an interest in launching as quickly as possible the same product as that invented by one of your opponents. But to do this, you will have to place exactly the same combination of polyominoes used by its inventor.

So there will be a game where when you are able to invent a product, you will try to do it with a combination of polyominoes that your opponents will have difficulty reproducing (paying attention to those produced by their employees).

We are therefore dealing with a double race. A race to be the first to invent a product while being careful to compose it with polyominoes that are more difficult to reproduce, and a race to reproduce as quickly as possible the products invented by your opponents. Succulent and quite unique in its own right as a mechanic. The players themselves will define the objectives of their opponents.

Each player, in turn, can therefore carry out 3 actions out of the 8 possible. And what are these actions? 1/ Hire employees who will produce polyominoes (which represent work force and creativity). 2/ Buy polyominoes 3/ Invent new products using these polyominoes (they are essentially the ones that will earn you VPs). 4/ Expand your business to be able to hire more employees and produce more products.

5/Invest in venture capital to earn the money needed to pay the various costs (employee engagement, employee salary, business expansion and business maintenance). 6/Poach an employee working for a competitor (we very rarely do this because the cost is quite expensive). 7/Abandon the production of a product to make room for another more lucrative one (especially since products have a limited lifespan and are made obsolete when an adversary decides to produce the same one).

8/dismissal of an employee who has become too expensive...Even if this mechanism has a very classic side, I really appreciated the management of recurring costs in Silicon Valley! Your business and the salaries of your employees represent a recurring cost that you will have to pay each turn, after your 3 actions.

The original thing here is that your employees will cost more and more. Normal, their expertise will grow and they will demand salary increases. And these increases will happen quite quickly so that if you don't pay enough attention, your employees' salaries will quickly become unpayable. You will have to measure your commitments carefully, especially since at the start of the game, your employees will not cost you much.

This original cost management gives a great flavor to Silicon Valley because it requires good planning and a delicate balance. It is in your interest to hire a lot of employees to produce a lot of different polyominoes but you will have to be attentive to their increasing cost by carefully measuring your commitments. Because the higher your costs, the more risk capital actions will be necessary to be able to pay them (and the fewer actions you will be able to carry out in terms of VPs). Obviously, the less you commit, the fewer polyominoes you will produce and more actions will then be necessary to purchase them. You will have to find the right balance which will not be easy, especially during your first games.

But part by part, this delicate balance will not change and Silicon Valley risks lacking variability. This is the fault of the game. Even if the risk capital cards bring different bonuses, more asymmetry in bonuses to be gleaned here and there or even a system of permanent abilities could have brought a little more depth to the game.

The interaction between the players will bring a nice touch of variability and originality to the game. This race to invent products, the way of inventing them which will prevent others from copying them easily (or not), the race to copy products whose terms are set by the players themselves are all elements which will bring tension and charm to the game.

Finally, Silicon Valley is well embedded in its theme and we can already see ourselves creating our own company, hiring the right designers who will then be able to create sublime games that we will produce and store in our warehouses while waiting for them to be copied to create others, even more disruptive and original.

Good day and good game ;)

JJV's Offs

On 13/09/2026

Hello everyone!

Welcome to a new opus of "JJV Offs"!

" Necessity is the mother of invention."

Just like inventions, starting a business also requires a lot of work and patience. We arrive with a concept and a precise idea without knowing if it will be well-received.

For us, the vision is generally quite clear, and we know what we want to develop, why, but not always how…^^ Then, through sheer effort and patience, we finally bring to fruition what was initially just a project.

And that's where things get serious. We set up and launch our project. It takes shape, and we discover the first challenges of the project in the face of reality. Sometimes it works, but most of the time, we try and try again and again until it works.

Things don't just happen on their own. Having projects is good, but working hard to accomplish them is true personal success. Because if we wait for things to happen by themselves, they never will.

When I started the shop, I was told I'd be closed down in two years… 8 years later, I'm still here ;) I was also told that the events wouldn't be popular and that there was no point in persevering. Eight years after opening, I'm lucky enough to have contracts renewed every year in Vaison, in France, and even a little bit in Europe. :)

When you have a vision you believe in, there will always be people who don't believe in it and try to discourage you, but that's when you have to hold on and believe even more strongly… ;)

Good day and good game! ;)

Nautilusisland

2 words game Nautilus Island

On 11/09/2026

Hello everyone !

Today we're going to talk about Nautilus Island!

Intrepid adventurers, for 2 to 4 players, ages 8 and up, for 20 to 30 minutes, explore and find as much treasure as possible!

You are shipwrecked on a mysterious, deserted, volcanic island. After a storm, you stumble upon a beached submarine, the Nautilus, devoid of its crew.

You must explore its various nooks and crannies to salvage as many items as possible to ensure your survival and repair the submarine so you can leave the island before the other castaways.

On the first turn only, the designated first player starts, followed by the other players clockwise.

On subsequent turns, players play in the order determined by the position of their Castaway token in the Nautilus: the Castaway closest to the rear of the Nautilus always plays next.

On the first turn, players place their Castaway token on top of the Nautilus, facing the column of cards of their choice. This column must not be occupied by an opponent's Castaway token. During subsequent turns, each player moves their pawn to the opposite side of the Nautilus, facing a column of cards of their choice, excluding the column they were in on the previous turn or the column(s) occupied by an opponent's Castaway pawn on that side of the Nautilus.

Once their Castaway pawn has been moved, the player performs one of two actions:

• Collect items: The player adds the top card of each pile in the column facing their Castaway pawn to their hand. If the pile is face down, they do not reveal this card to the other players. There is no limit to the number of cards a player can hold.

• Store items in their camp: The player places up to as many cards of the same color as there are piles in the column facing their Castaway pawn (1, 2, or 3).

The cards are placed in front of the player by color collection (one color per column). A player cannot have multiple collections of the same color.

The number of cards played is visible to everyone. The player then takes the Bonus token corresponding to the color they just played, if available, and places it on top of their collection. They can then complete that same collection by taking a Porthole token.

Then it's the next player's turn, and so on. At the end of a turn, when all players have moved their Shipwrecked pawn to the same side of the Nautilus, a new turn begins, starting with the player closest to the back of the Nautilus, and so on until the end of the game.

The game ends when a column on the board is empty. Players finish their current turn and then take one final turn. During this final turn, players can position themselves facing an empty column, but only to play up to as many cards as there are spaces in that column.

They then proceed to scoring and add up the points from their (1) Bonus tokens, (2) Porthole tokens, and (3) Nautilus Treasure cards. Any other cards still in hand are worthless.

The player with the most points wins the game. In case of a tie, the player whose Shipwrecked token is closest to the stern of the Nautilus wins.

Good day and good game ;)

JJV's Offs

On 06/09/2026

Hello everyone!

Welcome to a new opus of "JJV Offs"!

" Necessity is the mother of invention."

Many great inventions were created because they were useful in everyday life or through serendipitous discoveries. They very often address a daily or temporary need.

I created the in-store and outdoor activity sessions because I knew they could fulfill a need to get together and enjoy good times together… The games aspect was just the icing on the cake.

I realized when I set up the store in Vaison that there wasn't a board game shop, but a whole community that was unaware of its existence. I was very happy, and I still am, to have created the concept of these activities in the area.

When I started with the in-store and outdoor activities, the concept simply didn't exist. It seemed relevant to me because I was certain I would find an audience to bring together to play games.

Now, eight years after opening, I see that the gaming community in Vaison and the surrounding area has grown considerably. So, if I've been able to contribute even a little to that, I'm very happy.

I'm pleased to have been helping spread the world of games here, in France and Europe, for a little over eight years, with classic games, but especially with original games that you can't find everywhere else.

I love introducing people to games that everyone owns, but above all, games that fewer people know, even experienced gamers. Because if passionate gamers don't introduce you to these lesser-known games, who will? No one ;)

Good day and good game! ;)

On 04/09/2026

Hello everyone !

And today we’re going to talk about Imakoo!

Fans of sudoku and word games, from 1 to 12 players and from 8 years old for 30 minutes, recreate as many words as possible with 4 varied games!

Imakoo offers you a series of illustrations that represent sounds of the French language.

They all work under 4 simple rules:

-Only phonetics count, we don't worry about spelling.

-Verb conjugations are accepted.

-Proper names are prohibited.

-Consonants represent more than one sound.

Play 4 different games: Maximakoo, Dominomakoo, Génimakoo & Speedimakoo!

In Maximakoo, you have to have the last word. In 5 rounds we will create as many words as possible with the cards placed on the table. The player who cannot play takes a penalty. The player with the most penalties loses.

In Dominomakoo, you have to lay down all these cards by creating words with your cards and those from the table in 5 rounds. The player who cannot create words is eliminated and the last player who can pose wins.

In Génimakoo, we find the most words in a grid made up of 12 cards in the center of the table. In 5 rounds, the one who finds the most words wins.

In Speedimakoo, you find as many words as possible in 2 minutes with the 9 cards arranged in the center of the table. The first player to reach 30 points wins the game.

Play word sudoku solo using the game booklets. All together, share a moment around words.

JJV's Offs

On 30/08/2026

Hello everyone!

Welcome to a new opus of "JJV Offs"!

" Carnival is a time for music and dance, where people can let loose and enjoy life."

Carnival is a shared moment, a chance to escape the daily grind. A brief respite from lives that are often hectic or fly by.

What I love about organizing events in Vaison, France, and elsewhere is that they allow me to break free from the routine and meet new people.

For me, the more people you meet, the more you can open yourself up to different perspectives and broaden your horizons, interacting with people who are often interesting, sometimes less so. It's the lottery of life…

I'm happy to lead these events and, I hope, make them warm and dynamic, and I try not to rest on my laurels.

I strive to be proactive and offer you original experiences each time. Events lend themselves well to this, as they always put me in contact with a diverse range of people. It stimulates my creativity every day, and my adaptability remains unwavering. I love reinventing myself and always offering you varied and original projects and experiences.

My way of letting go and enjoying life comes from my daily encounters with wonderful people, allowing us to open ourselves up to one another, and with less wonderful people, from whom I learn patience, resilience, and how to rediscover my inner strength.

Letting go also means knowing how to detach ourselves from the opinions and judgments of others and trusting our own judgment. ;)

Good day and good game! ;)

13perfectshot

2 words game Perfect Shot

On 28/08/2026

Hello everyone !

Today we're going to talk about Perfect Shot!

Budding photographers, for 2 to 4 players, ages 8 and up, for 20 to 30 minutes, take the best shots to win!

Become the king or queen of the lens and master depth of field!

Each player takes on the role of a photographer trying to capture as many animal photos as possible with their camera and fill as many photo albums as they can, while respecting the album's requirements.

Album requirements can include: different or identical animals, animals from a specific habitat (jungle, ice floe, or mountain), a particular animal, or the Yeti (yes, this strange creature has crashed the party!). Each album awards bonus points when its requirements are met.

To take these photos, you start with a board that displays the different habitats and the animals associated with them. The Yeti is also present but isn't linked to any specific habitat. It acts as a wildcard for habitat requirements. To obtain photo tiles, you must place one of the three landscape tiles in your hand onto the game board without trying to capture it. The animals you wanted to photograph will appear through the holes in the played card.

These holes represent the lenses of your camera. You only need to capture a small piece of an animal to claim your tile. If you are certain you have a complete animal through the hole, you must first announce "Perfect Shot" before placing the tile. If you are correct, you draw a perfect shot tile, with the +2 point side up; otherwise, it will be on its 0 side.

You can only announce a perfect shot twice per game. Don't miss the opportunity to attempt a perfect shot, as these tiles can break ties at the end of the game.

For your photo tiles to count towards points, they must be placed on album cards; otherwise, they are worthless. In turn, the player chooses either to place a landscape card to collect photo tiles or to draw an album card from the face-up cards or the one on the draw pile. Waiting until the last minute to take albums to match our photos isn't always the best solution. As mentioned before, fulfilling the album's requirements earns us extra points (2 to 3 extra per card). But we don't always have the photo tiles we want.

So, filling as many albums as possible without necessarily fulfilling the requirements is a good alternative to still rack up points. The yeti acts as a wildcard for habitat requirements because it doesn't fit into any existing habitat.

However, it earns us 1 point if we manage to fit it entirely into an album, given that it comes in two parts. We also need to have the right parts, because this little trickster doesn't let himself be photographed easily!

Good day and good game ;)

JJV's Offs

On 23/08/2026

Hello everyone!

Welcome to a new opus of "JJV Offs"!

"Carnival is a place for meeting and sharing, where people can come together and celebrate."

What I love about carnival is that it brings people together through a joyful and colorful atmosphere. We can all party and have fun together.

This is often what happens when I offer you activities that allow you to meet very different kinds of people.

These same differences that I personally find enriching. Because if we were all the same, life would be boring.

What I find in my activities with you is this sharing and this connection that develops beyond our mutual differences.

When I lead or co-lead in France, Italy, or Spain, we often laugh at our cultural differences, which can lead to some funny situations…^^ For example, in Spanish, we say "tonto" (idiot) instead of "tanto" (as much), or in Italian, we say "fica" (the female part) instead of "fico" (fig).

Luckily, I have Italian and Spanish colleagues who understand it's a linguistic slip and gently tease me about it afterward without taking offense…^^

We are all different and have grown up differently. But it's precisely these differences that allow us to open ourselves to others and discover other ways of thinking, broadening our minds. ;)

Good day and good game! ;)

12mascarade

2 words game Mascarade

On 21/08/2026

Hello everyone!

Today we're going to talk about Masquerade! Cunning characters advance through the heart of society, for 2 to 13 players, ages 10 and up, for 30 minutes, without revealing your true colors to win!

Masquerade is a bluffing and character game for 2 to 13 players. Each player has a face-down Character card. During the game, players will switch characters, and no one is ever truly certain which card they have in front of them!

The goal of the game is to use the characters' powers to collect 13 gold coins. However, if a player goes broke, the game ends immediately, and the richest player wins. For your first few games, we recommend 4 to 8 players.

Indeed, with more or fewer players, it's essential to be familiar with the game. Each player starts with 6 gold coins. Throughout the game, the players' fortunes must remain clearly visible.

The remaining money is placed in the center of the table to form the bank. The court is placed a short distance from the bank. For 4 or 5 players, use 6 Character cards. For 6 to 13 players, use as many cards as there are players. Unused cards are returned to the box.

The Character cards are shuffled, and each player receives one card face up in front of them. With 4 or 5 players, the remaining card(s) are placed face up in the center of the table.

Once all players have seen all the cards, they are turned face down. The character markers serve as a memory aid and indicate which characters are present in the game. We recommend placing them next to the court.

The youngest player starts. Play then proceeds clockwise.

From the fifth round onward, the game truly begins. Each player, when their turn comes, must perform one of the following three actions: exchange their card – or not (under the table), secretly look at their card, announce their character and exchange their card – or not. This action allows you to secretly exchange your card with another player's.

Here's how to do it. Take your card in one hand without looking at it. Take another player's card (or a card from the center of the table) in your other hand without looking at it. Under the table, out of sight of all players, you may – or may not – swap the cards. Then take one of the two cards and give the other to the player from whom you took it, or place it back in the center of the table.

Secretly look at your card. This action allows the player to secretly look at their character card. If a player accidentally looks at their card (due to a trade or other reason), they are forced to perform this action during their turn.

Announcing "their" character. This action is the main driving force of the game. It activates the characters' powers. When a player announces they are a character, the other players, starting with the one to their left and proceeding clockwise, have the opportunity to challenge their announcement by claiming to be the same character.

If no one else claims to be the character, the player applies the stated character's power without revealing their card. It is therefore possible to apply the power of any character in play without actually being that character, and even without knowing who you are.

If one or more other players also claim to be that character, all the players involved (the one making the announcement and the claiming player(s)) reveal their cards.

If one of the players is indeed the announced character, they immediately apply that character's power (even outside of their turn). Next, all other players who falsely claimed to be the announced character pay a one-gold-coin fine to the Tribunal.

Finally, all players place their cards face down. As soon as a player has 13 or more gold coins, the game ends and they win. If a player loses their last gold coin, the game ends and the richest player wins. Ties are sometimes possible.

Good day and good game ;)

JJV's Offs

On 16/08/2026

Welcome to a new opus of "JJV Offs"!

Carnival was a true escape from my daily life. That's certainly why people tried to deprive me of those moments of happiness.

When I was away from home, at parties or at friends' houses, I could enjoy a moment of respite. Because, no, a safe and peaceful childhood isn't guaranteed for everyone.

I've experienced things that weren't always easy, which is why I'm happy to see people happy and why I love bringing you good cheer and joy.

Just because someone has had a traumatic past doesn't mean they're condemned to carry that burden with them for the rest of their life. Healing isn't easy, but if we don't, we risk hurting people who only have good intentions towards us… When I'm at outdoor events, I want you to feel free to explore different mechanics and games, like you would with dancing at a carnival, trying out a few steps and getting used to them.

Because then we have the freedom to let go and forget our worries, and that's wonderful! So if I can contribute, on my humble small business scale, to making you smile or even laugh, then I've earned my special moment with you.

Good day and good game! ;)

11moorland

2 words game Moorland

On 14/08/2026

Hello everyone!

Today we're going to talk about Moorland! It's your turn to manage the marshes, for 2 to 4 players, ages 10 and up, for 45 to 60 minutes, to protect them and score the most points!

Peatlands are a little-known ecosystem, yet they are an essential component of our planet and its balance. They cover 3% of the Earth's surface but represent more than 30% of the carbon stored in the soil. Their destruction is therefore a major cause of CO₂ emissions worldwide. They are also a refuge for thousands of different species, often endemic.

The disappearance of a peatland is a huge blow to biodiversity, and therefore to life as we know it. Each player receives a personal player board, which outlines the turn order and final scoring, and allows them to place their cards and certain tokens (excess water and plants). They also receive four peatland tiles, each divided into four zones. The peatland tiles are placed in front of the players, forming a game board of 16 spaces (one per player). The game board will be the same for everyone, randomly determined at the start of the game. It contains 4 pre-filled spaces (each with a stream and a root space) and 12 empty spaces, each with 6 plant spaces.

The swamp cards are then shuffled, along with the plant cards, and both decks are placed face up on the table. Two cards are then removed from the plant deck and returned to the box. At the beginning of each turn, a river will be formed using the swamp cards (one more card than the number of players), and one plant card will be revealed.

The swamp cards contain a stream, which connects the sides of the card, and 1 to 4 plants, which can be withered, rooted, or floating. Some cards also contain animals (beetles, birds, snakes, dragonflies, butterflies, and frogs) and/or water spiders. Pairs of animals will score points at the end of the game, as will having multiple types of animals on your board. Water spiders do not count as animals, but will grant a bonus to the player with the most at the end of the game.

Plant cards usually feature two types of plants, but some feature all four.

On their turn, the active player can perform different actions: Take a card from the river (mandatory), place plant tokens on their board (optional), or place one or more swamp cards on their board (optional). The player takes one of the river cards and places it under their personal board. There can only be two swamp cards under the personal board at the end of the turn. If the player has three cards under their personal board at the end of this action, the "place a swamp card on your board" action becomes mandatory.

The player can take plants of one of the types shown on the active plant card from the reserve. They can then place these plants in a space on their bog board that is not covered by a swamp. Each space has 6 free plant spaces and displays a symbol that indicates the number of plants the player must place during this action (from 1 to 3). Some spaces have a special symbol that allows the player to place a plant of any type during this action.

If there are not enough free spaces on the space to place all the plants, the excess plants will be placed on the player's personal board, reducing their end-game score. The player can place one or more swamp cards on free spaces in their bog. To do so, the space must contain at least the plants indicated on the swamp card. It may contain other plants; this is not a problem. The plants on the space are removed, and the swamp card is placed on the space. The plants are then replaced according to the following rules:

Wilted plants are returned to the main supply. Rooted plants are placed on the swamp card and remain in place. The remaining plants drift to another empty space (or an empty root space) along the watercourse.

If a plant cannot drift, or if there are no more empty spaces, it is considered surplus and placed on the player's personal board.

If the player is the first to cover a space, they gain a water token. Water tokens are worth one victory point or can be spent to move a plant from one empty space to another.

The game ends after 12 rounds. The points are then tallied: 1 point per rooted plant, 1 to 12 points depending on the number of animal species present in the peat bog, 2 points per pair of animals, 1 to 7 points depending on the number of water spiders, 1 point per section of the watercourse.

One point per remaining water token, one point per excess plant. The player with the most points wins.

Good day and good game ;)

Hello everyone!

The Cologne Carnival is one of the largest carnivals in Germany, with parades and parties that attract millions of people, while the Notting Hill Carnival in London is one of the largest carnivals in the world, with thousands of participants and spectators.

The Salvador de Bahia Carnival in Brazil is known for its Afro-Brazilian rhythms and energetic dances.

Carnival masks have a long history and are used to conceal the identities of participants, thus allowing for greater freedom of expression.

Carnival is an opportunity for communities to come together and celebrate their cultural identity, with events and activities that bring together people of all ages and backgrounds.

Good day and good game! ;)
