Puss in Boots wasn't really a cat.
The author of Puss in Boots, Giovanni Francesco Straparola, wrote a story about a little boy who was given a cat after his mother's death.
But in reality, it was a fairy who had transformed into a cat, so Puss in Boots wasn't really a cat...
It was only later that the author decided to change the story.
