JJV's Offs

JJV's Offs

On 19/10/2025

Hello everyone!

Welcome to a new opus of the "Offs du JJV"!

"Personality is found in the style of play."

With each new game time, I am happy to discover new players and to be able to discover them through the games. Each one has his own way of playing and that is what makes the moments around the games interesting and unique.

For example, there will be players who will follow the rule to the letter and others who will also be able to try to arrange it so that it helps them win... :) Yes, yes, I see you doing it when you try to arrange the rules. ;)

And there are some rogues who try to read between the lines to find rules that don't exist or that they distort to change the rules of the game when it suits them...^^ And this happens as much with little ones as with big kids... :)

I admit that I sometimes take a quick look at your cards to help you play later, especially when you haven't known the games for a long time. But it's only to give you a little help and I don't do it anymore after you know how to play. ;)

I've let you win sometimes when you weren't comfortable with a game, but as soon as you know it then it's time for me to play the game and introduce you to more complex strategies. Because I don't want to put you off games and I want you to have fun, so yes sometimes in the beginning I let you win... ;)

In life, I like to see people who deserve it succeed. For the others, I am not calculating and I only wish you what you deserve... You can't hurt people and hope not to be hurt yourself one day...

In life as in games, I am fair play but in life, I do not appreciate being played with. I would not play the game of meanness and perfidy. You can sneer your insults or your derogatory remarks on a daily basis as if it were the most normal thing in the world...

I know my worth and I would not play the game in Vaison of certain people who think they are superior by putting other people down. I am even sorry for you that you only have that to give you substance...

That is my meanness, not to calculate you, you do not deserve it and to continue living my life peacefully. Haven't you noticed over all these years that the store hasn't sunk and that you allow me to strengthen myself with your meanness on a daily basis?

Thank you for each of your actions, which show that harassment doesn't stop at schools and that adults who want to be so-called examples aren't...

And then it's easy to attack someone who doesn't answer you and that your environment validates your bad actions... And then you wonder why bad things happen to you in your life. Look no further... Everything has to be paid for, bad as well as good!

Have a good day and good game ;)

2 words game Azul Sintra

2 words game Azul Sintra

On 17/10/2025

Hello everyone!

Today we are going to talk about Azul Sintra!

Place your stained glass windows, 2 to 4 players from 8 years old for 30 to 45 minutes, to become the best glass craftsman!

In Azul Sintra, we will find the basic mechanics of choosing tiles as in Azul but with stained glass windows.

We will have the choice between taking all the stained glass windows of the same color from one of the displays and putting the rest in the center of the table. We can also take all the stained glass windows of the same color from the center of the table.

We will place the stained glass windows in columns instead of placing them in a line. The colors of the columns are imposed and can be composed of one or more different colors.

These columns will be managed by an upholsterer who will fill them from left to right. He will only be able to fill one column of stained glass at a time. If he has taken too many, the surplus will be thrown away and will cost VP.

To fill the rightmost column, he will be able to move his upholsterer but it will cost him an action. He will therefore not be able to take stained glass and it will be the same if he wants to move his upholsterer again to the leftmost columns.

When a column is filled, we will score the points of this one plus those of the already filled columns located to the right of the one just finished.

The stained glass windows bring different points depending on the colors and the turns that allow you to win bonuses, as well as if you make adjacent columns.

The player who has the most points at the end of the game wins.

Have a good day and good game ;)

Hello everyone!

Games of chance

Game of even or odd. We take a certain number of knucklebones in our hand and hand them to another player and ask them "even or odd". If they guess, they win the knucklebones that are in the hand of the one who asked them the question. If they don't guess, they must give as many knucklebones as the one who asked them the question and must give them to them.

The game of heads or tails. It was played as we still play it today. The Greeks used day and night for the white or black side. The Romans said head or ship.

The game of mourre. The two players stand face to face and then extend their right hand, announcing a number and assuming the sum announced by the two players. You must then try to estimate the number of fingers that the opponent will raise to try to find the sum of all the fingers of the two players. The winner is the one who has won 5 shots, that is to say who has found the right number 5 times. The points won are counted with the left hand. It was also used to determine who will start playing.

The game of the wound belt. Puzzle to take apart and put back together to win. The Greeks used it to consult fate. It is a double belt that was wound and it was necessary to succeed in undoing them. It represents the work of each day that the people must accomplish.

The game of the bronze coin. We take a bronze coin that we spin on its edge then we try to stop it with our finger in a single attempt and before it falls back on the table or on the ground. We had to succeed in stopping it on its edge.

Have a good day and good game ;)

Hello everyone!

Welcome to a new opus of the "Offs du JJV"!

"My motivation comes from playing the game I love."

I am very happy to be able to offer you every day the most unusual things in the gaming world. The classics and games that everyone plays are good too, but the unusual ones always bring a little special touch!

Having the opportunity to have you play and play with you games that bring us closer enchants me every day. I like to make you discover games that are as varied as you are.

Making one of your passions a job allows me to advise you as best I can and to be able to enjoy unique and friendly moments with you.

It is immediately more motivating in the face of life's hazards to work in a field that we like. It gives additional motivation than just working at your own pace and as you want.

I really enjoyed my years as an employee and if I had to go back, I think I would get used to it pretty quickly because one of my qualities is that I am very adaptable. I also like being self-employed to organize my week as I wish as long as the goals I set for myself are achieved.

But it is true that working at my own pace and at my own convenience is a luxury that I gave myself when I opened the store. I can organize my tasks according to my desires and my activities as well.

It is a freedom that is not necessarily allowed when you work for an employer. However, being an employee brings a little more security if you know how to give yourself the means to stay in line with your job description.

I like to play, I am paid to sell you things to play and to play with you! What more could you ask for… ;)

Have a good day and good game ;)

Hello everyone!

Today we're going to talk about Checkers!

Move your pieces, 2 players from 6 years old for 10 to 20 minutes, to capture all your opponent's pieces!

The two players are face-to-face, the checkerboard between them. For each player, the square on the right on the first line of the checkerboard is light-colored.

Draw lots to find out which player has the light-colored pieces. He starts the game. Each player places all his pieces on the dark-colored squares, on the first four lines.

Each player in turn makes either a move or a capture. When he can make a capture, he is obliged to do so and does not make a move.

The player moves one of his pawns one square, diagonally, towards the other player. The arrival square must be empty.

If the pawn reaches the last line, it turns into a "queen". A second pawn of the same color is placed on top of it.

Instead of moving one of his pawns, the player can move one of his queens. He moves it as many squares as he wants, diagonally, in the direction of his choice. The arrival square must be empty and no piece must be in the path of the queen.

Pawns and queens only move on dark-colored squares. If a player touches one of his pieces, he must play this piece, if possible. As long as he does not drop it, he can change his move.

A pawn can take a piece from the other player by jumping over it, provided that it arrives in an empty square, next to the jumped pawn. The jump can be made in any direction. The jumped piece is removed from the board.

The queen captures like the pawn but has the advantage of being able to cross several empty squares.

It can stop on the square of its choice if it has several empty arrival squares. If several jumps in a row are possible, the player must make as many as possible. Each jump can be made in a different direction.

For example, three pawns must be taken in preference to two pawns or two queens. In the event of a numerical tie, it can be chosen.

A piece can only be jumped once. It is forbidden to remove the pieces as the jumps progress; they must all be removed after the last jump.

If a pawn reaches the end of its capture on a square on the last line, it becomes a queen. If it only passes, it remains a pawn.

A player can force the other player to replay his turn if the latter forgot to capture. He can also let it happen, without penalty.

A player has lost the game when he has no more pieces left on the board or if he can no longer move any pieces.

A player can also abandon the game if he feels he has no chance of winning, or even of equalizing.

A draw is when a player proposes it and the other player accepts it, when it is no longer possible to make a capture, or when the same position of the pieces occurs for the third time.

Have a good day and good game ;)

Games of agility or strategy games

The game of scattering where we throw our nuts at once trying to scatter them in two or three shots. If we get four nuts distributed we win the game. We had to try to place our nuts and scatter those of our opponents. After placing a pile of 4 nuts another player tries to get them out of the playing area or scatter them.

The inclined plane or game of the tap where we tilt a board from which we make a nut go down which must touch another one at the bottom. We must then try to move the board to make our nut land on another nut which earned points.

The game of puck where we put a puck (a shell) on the ground or on a table and we had to succeed in turning the shell in the other direction with another shell. We had to try to be agile enough to hit the edge of the shell to succeed in turning it over.

JJV's Offs

JJV's Offs

On 05/10/2025

Hello everyone!

Welcome to a new installment of the "Offs du JJV"!

"Life is a game. You have to know how to lose."

In life as in games, I am generally a good loser. Losing is not an end in itself and there has to be a winner anyway ;).

When I see that when I either lose or win at games, I always win no matter what happens in moments of complicity with my players. When I see what I lose sometimes in life, I don't lose much.

I decided to lose the Christmas vouchers for Vaison because I prefer to "lose sales" as some will say than to lose my principles and values by being called an idiot or a racist...

I certainly owe a minimum of respect to the people who come to the store, it is part of my values and principles, but I demand in return that I am not disrespected in return.

And for those who have no notion of respect, I will continue to remain calm and detached in front of you, but do not demand more from me than you yourself are capable of giving me…

If a certain shopkeeper who has continued to make the vouchers considers herself a winner, good for her, I do not wish to welcome people who insult me or disrespect me in my store.

I am very happy to have lost in this context for example… This same shopkeeper who does not only harass me with her friends now, but also the other shopkeeper who offers the same vouchers as her…

I realize that the more I keep quiet so as not to disturb the tranquility, the more they come to disturb mine while I remain focused on my objectives without annoying anyone in return.

So I decided to disturb the peace in my turn, we always know who... Of those same people who do not want to be disturbed in their peace, but who do not hesitate to disturb the peace of others... Logical...^^

You can continue to give me a hard time, you make me a little stronger each time since I am very resilient. Are you as much? Not sure... ;)

I hope that these people who harass me just because I live my life without disturbing anyone will learn to lose the peace of their peaceful life of stalkers and that they will be able to stay strong like me... ;)

To be continued...^^

Have a good day and good game ;)

On 03/10/2025

Hello everyone!

Today we are going to talk about the Yellow Dwarf!

Grab your cards and your tokens, 2 to 8 players from 8 years old for 20 to 30 minutes, to place your bets and try to win!

Distribute the tokens to the players. Each player receives the same number of points, to be agreed. Draw lots to know which player distributes the cards at the start of the game. Agree on a distribution and play direction. Each player places tokens in each square of the board:

• 1 point on the 10 of diamonds;

• 2 points on the jack of clubs;

• 3 points on the queen of spades;

• 4 points on the king of hearts;

• 5 points on the 7 of diamonds or "Yellow Dwarf".

Shuffle the cards and deal them to the players three by three and face down. Leave a pile of three to eight cards face down depending on the number of players:

Number of players

Number of cards per players

Number of cards remaining in the pile

Depending on the direction of play, the player to the left or right of the dealer begins to play. He places the first card of his choice, face up, announcing the name of the card. He does the same with the following cards as long as he can, in the order "ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, jack, queen, king", without worrying about their color. If he places a king, he begins a new sequence from the card of his choice.

When he stops, he announces "without" then the name of the missing card. For example, if he stops at 9, he announces "without 10". The next player continues the sequence in the same way, if he can. Otherwise, he passes his turn and so on with the other players.

If none of the players have the missing card and if it is not a king, the player who placed the last card moves on to the next card. If none of the players have the missing card and if it is a king, the player who placed the last card starts a new sequence from the card of his choice.

When a player places a card represented on the board, for example the queen of spades, he announces "queen who takes" and collects the chips bet in the corresponding box. If he forgets to announce, the chips remain in the box until they are collected during another round.

The round ends as soon as a player has no more cards in his hand. He receives from the other players the equivalent in chips of the value of the cards remaining in his hand. The ace is worth one point, the 2 is worth two points, etc. The 10 and each face card are worth ten points.

If a player gets rid of all his cards at once, this is called "Grand Opera". He receives, in addition to the payment from the other players, all the chips bet on the board.

At the end of a round, if a player still has a card represented on the board in his hand, he must double the bet that is in the corresponding box. The chips remain in the box until they are picked up during another round.

If the stock pile contains a card represented on the board, the chips bet in the corresponding box remain there until they are picked up during another round.

The player who had placed the first card becomes the dealer. He collects all the cards, including those in the stock. Players can start a new round.

The game is over when a player can no longer bet or can no longer pay another player. You can also choose a number of bets or a game duration. Players then count their chips, the winner is the one with the most points.

Have a good day and good game ;)

Hello everyone!

Games of skill

The shell game in Greece and the scales game among the Romans are the ancestors of the ricochet game where you have to bounce a stone on water to score points according to the number of ricochets you have managed to make.

The pit or vase game consists of throwing knucklebones into a small pit or vase to score the most points according to the number of knucklebones of your color that you have managed to send into the pit or vase.

The translation game, also called the dimple is the ancestor of the molky and was played in the same way by reaching a number by knocking down the pins, not with numbers at that time, but with different shapes.

The tropa game or the ancestor of the Angevin stopper which consists of throwing nutshells or small pebbles in a defined area which is made up of 16 distinct zones. The further we managed to throw the stones and in the same area, the more points we scored by the majority of stones that belonged to us.

The game of the circle and the pentagram which was played in approximately the same way. For the circle, we played from a distance by trying to throw our stones or nutshells into the circle, while for the pentagram it was the one who touched the most lines with his wooden sticks who won.

In the game of the delta, we draw a triangle with degrees represented by sticks. They also represent separations of the playing area. We then won the number of nuts corresponding to the line where our nut stops on one of its sticks.

JJV's Offs

JJV's Offs

On 28/09/2025

Hello everyone!

Welcome to a new installment of the "Offs du JJV"!

"No game can be played without rules."

Before starting the game, we all chose to be aware of the rules and to mostly follow them to put all players on an equal footing.

Because if we don't follow the same rules, some players could take advantage of others and lack fair play. This is what happens when you play with dishonest players in everyday life.

For some, lying and bluffing is part of their way of being. These are the same people who will tell you that rules are made to be broken and who create their own for you...

But as with games, the draw will not always be in their favor... And I am honestly not sure that when they in turn suffer harassment or insults while walking down certain streets in Vaison, they will have the strength that I myself had to hold on. ;)

It is a fair return of things if the people who are sweet in front of others and bluff to better fool others receive the energies of what they have given.

The game of life also has its rules and it does not compromise on them. We cannot hope to lead a life where we put others down without having to suffer the consequences. These are the same people who say they do not understand why only bad things happen to them and that they are unlucky.

The rule of the game of life, as in gambling, is to follow the rules at the risk of suffering penalties. I don't wish any harm to the people who harass and insult me in Vaison, but believe me when I see karma taking care of them, I don't feel sorry for them either... We reap what we sow and that's a universal rule of life. Have a good day and good game ;)

On 26/09/2025

Hello everyone!

Today we are going to talk about some card games!

To your cards, 2 to 8 players from 4 years old for 10 to 20 minutes, to place your colors, pairs or higher values!

The battle

The goal is to win all the cards. The one who draws the strongest card from the deck is the dealer. He shuffles the cards, and makes his partner "cut" the deck. He distributes the cards one by one, starting with his partner, face down, until the last one.

The players gather their cards in a deck, face down. The other player turns over the top card of his deck (the one received last) on the table, then the dealer does the same. The one with the strongest card takes the 2 cards and puts them under his deck.

If both players play cards of the same value, it is said that there is a "battle". Each player must then cover their first card with a face-down card, then another face-up card.

The player who played the strongest card collects all the cards played and puts them under their deck, after having put them all back in the right direction. End of the game. The one who has collected all the cards is the winner

The lousy

From a deck of 52 cards, remove the jack of clubs. For the smallest, also remove the 7, 8, 9, 10. The goal is not to be the last player to have the lousy (the jack of spades) in their hands.

A draw is made to determine who starts. The first player deals all the cards, face down. Each player looks at their cards and makes associations 2 by 2, by value (5, jack, king, etc.) and by color (red or black).

For example, the king of spades + the king of clubs (black); the 9 of hearts and the 9 of diamonds (red). All the pairs thus formed are placed face up in the middle of the table.

When the players no longer have the possibility of making a pair, the first player presents his cards face down to the player on his left. The latter draws a card and, if he can, makes a new pair, which he places in the middle of the table. And so on for the following players.

Players who no longer have any cards no longer play. The player with the last card in hand (the jack of spades, the lousy one) has lost. The other players can give him a forfeit!

The liar

The aim of the game is to no longer have any cards in hand. A player distributes all the cards between the different players then places a card of his choice in the middle of the game, face up, announcing the suit (clubs, spades, etc.).

In turn, each player must place a card of the same suit on top, always face down and always announcing the suit. But he can lie: for example, announce "diamonds" and place a club card.

If he suspects a lie, the next player can say: "Liar!" and turn the card over to check. If the card was indeed of the requested suit, the accusing player collects, as a penalty, all the cards placed on the table. If the card was not of the suit, it is the player who lied who collects the cards.

The player who collected the pile of cards restarts the game by placing the card of the suit of his choice, face up, and so on... The first player to have no more cards wins. The game ends when a player collects all 52 cards. This player is the loser and the winner gives him a forfeit!

Have a good day and good game ;)

Hello everyone!

The game of ivory figures

Ancestor of puzzles such as tangram, it consisted of 14 small pieces of different shapes that had to be assembled to recreate shapes or models.

Children were taught to read with an identical game but with letters. The centons, ancestor of our current santons, were used for children's games, adults and offerings.

On 21/09/2025

Hello everyone!

Welcome to a new opus of the "Offs du JJV"!

"You have to play to become serious"

As I have worked in different organizations, I have seen my players evolve and progress towards more advanced ranges of games.

My expert players are always keen on more innovative and stimulating game mechanics that encourage them to be focused and always more serious.

In the order of good seriousness, where we like to rack our brains to know what will be the best catch and strategy to obtain it. Board games develop logic and reflection that allow us to choose the best solution to try to win.

And if we don't necessarily play to win, we always win by having enjoyed a moment of friendly reflection where even the other players sometimes guide us to find a solution.

We then all have the same rules and we start on an equal footing when we play the games. And then when you haven't always played, you discover that you can like one style of game more than another and that's completely normal.

As far as I'm concerned, it's puzzles and brain teasers that I like less while at the same time I love expert games where you have to rack your brains to capture positions, develop resources to win majorities or other more interesting resources...

The game allows seriousness, because it allows reflection in a reassuring framework of common bases with identical rules for all players. We therefore have benchmarks to develop more or less complicated strategies depending on the games.

And then the game also stimulates a reflection that we don't necessarily always use on a daily basis and takes us out of our routine by offering us bases that allow us to evolve at our own pace. The game is serious because we follow rules and we have a precise framework to move forward. But the game is also and above all moments of happy sharing.

Have a good day and good game ;)

2 words game Reversi Othello

2 words game Othello Reversi

On 19/09/2025

Hello everyone!

Today we're going to talk about Reversi!

Place your pawns, 2 players from 7 years old for 10 to 20 minutes, to reverse the game and impose your color!

Reversi is played on a 64-square board, with two-color pawns, black and white.

Two players compete with the aim of conquering the game board by placing the most pawns of their color. The game ends when one of the two players can no longer place pawns, even if the 64 squares are not occupied.

Each player has 32 pawns at the start of the game, then they choose their respective color, black or white. Each player will keep this color throughout the game and will therefore place these pawns on the side of their color.

At the start, the players place two pawns each facing each other and crossed so that each of their white pawns is facing a black pawn. Each in turn, the players will place a pawn of their color on each side of the other player's pawns to surround the line and turn it over.

We therefore need two pawns of our color to surround the opponent's pawns and be able to turn over the line or the captured pawns. We turn over our opponent's pawns on the side of our color and they are now ours.

The black pawns start. You must always play next to pawns that are already placed on the game board, you cannot play away from this area. If you cannot play, you then pass your turn.

By surrounding the opponent's pawns, you can turn over a few pawns, a line or several if the position of our pawn allows them to be captured. The row of pawns turned over must be continuous in order to be able to surround it.

It must not be cut by one of your pawns or contain an empty space for the capture to be validated. We must then absolutely turn all the pawns in the row, even if this does not benefit us for the rest of the game. A pawn can be removed from the game to be placed elsewhere if the row of pawns has not been turned over or if the other player has not yet played.

If one of the players has no more pawns but can still play, the other player must give him pawns until one of the players can no longer play. The game ends as soon as both players can no longer place pawns.

The player with the majority color on the board wins the game. We subtract the number of points of the losing player from those of the winner to know the number of points he has won.

If for example the player with black pawns has 37 pawns and the one with white pawns has 27, the player with black pawns will win 37-27, so 10 points. We can play in two rounds and a beautiful or count up to 100 points to have a definitive winner.

Have a good day and good game ;)

The children played at recomposing mosaics and it required a certain logical mind.

These are tokens resembling the same as the mosaics of professional mosaicists.

Welcome to a new opus of the "Offs du JJV"!

"The game is a bridge between the most diverse cultures on our planet."

I am aware that I am very lucky to meet people from different backgrounds and cultures during my game animations. You are always very inclined to discover and share good times and passionate discussions around board games.

I am lucky to animate in Vaison and its surroundings and in a few other cities in France. I also have from time to time the leisure and the pleasure of having beginners and passionate gamers play and play with them in other countries like Italy and Spain... I am always very happy to meet different people who allow me to open my horizons humanly.

I left naturally very curious to discover new things and especially new beautiful people. I like these people without calculation who just want to be in exchange and sharing. It is with her that we can create bonds and strong friendships that last over time.

It is also quite nice to discover other versions of games that we sometimes only know in French. The famous Galérapagos is called Hellapagos in English, for example, or the 6 qui prend is called 6 nihmt in German.

The games of today and before have one thing in common: they have always brought people together and mixed to create new games. By the way, did you know that the author of Trio is a Japanese named Kaya Miyano?

We are lucky in the world of board games to have talented authors and illustrators from all countries! Board games bring people and projects together in a unique way to create nuggets that we can play later…

2 words game Chess

2 words game Chess

On 12/09/2025

Hello everyone!

Today we are going to talk about Chess!

Move your pawns, 2 players from 6 years old for 20 to 30 minutes, to try to checkmate your opponent!

At the beginning of the game, the pieces are always placed in the same way. The pieces are in a castle. At the corner of the castles, there are always Rooks. Each player therefore places a Rook at each corner of the chessboard. Next to the Rooks, there are the stables: we therefore put our two Knights there.

In the middle of the castle sit the King and the Queen. The Queen is very elegant, she likes to place herself on a square of the color of her dress: the white Queen on the white square, the black Queen on the black square. We can also notice that the Queens occupy the d column.

To amuse the King and Queen, the two Bishops are placed next to them. And the pawns are soldiers who defend the castle: so the eight pawns are placed in front of the other pieces, on the second row.

Since the Queens are initially placed on the d-file, the four files from a to d are called the queenside and the four files from e to h are called the kingside. It is important to remember these terms, not only because it sounds more scholarly, but because we will often use them in more advanced courses.

Both players take turns by moving only one of their pieces (castling, which we will see later, is an exception to this rule). If a piece moves to a square occupied by an opposing piece, the latter is captured and removed from the board. A piece cannot move to a square occupied by a piece from its own side. Only the Knight can jump over the other pieces.

Bishop The Rook moves horizontally or vertically, as many squares as it wants. The Rook cannot go to a square occupied by a piece from its side, nor jump over another piece. The Rook can capture an opponent's piece by going to the square occupied by this piece. The Bishop moves diagonally, as many squares as it wants.

Each player starts with a Bishop on a black square and a Bishop on a white square. These Bishops can never change color during the entire game.

The Queen moves like the Rook and the Bishop: it can therefore move vertically, horizontally and diagonally, as many squares as it wants (without of course being able to pass over another piece or being able to capture a piece from its own side).

As it is the most mobile piece, it is also the piece with the greatest value. The King moves only one square, in all directions. When a King is attacked by an opposing piece, it is said to be in check.

A player is not allowed to leave his King in check. He is also not allowed to move his King to a square where it will be attacked (and therefore in check).

The Knight's movement is a little more complicated, and there are several ways to explain it. I like to say that the Knight moves two squares horizontally or vertically, then takes a step to the side. It therefore makes a sort of capital L, turned in any direction.

We can notice that a Knight that is on a white square can, on the next move, only go to black squares (and vice versa). The Knight is the only piece that can jump over other pieces (its own and the opponent's).

The pawn is the only piece that cannot move backward. It is also the only piece that does not capture as it moves forward. Pawns move forward one square on the same file, if the square in front of them is free. They capture on one or the other of the two squares in front of them diagonally. A pawn on its starting row can move forward two squares (but it is not obliged to).

When a pawn on its starting row moves forward two squares and ends up next to an opponent's pawn, then the opponent can, on the next move (and only that move), take the pawn that has just moved forward with his pawn as if the opponent's pawn had only moved forward one square.

When a player advances a pawn to the last row, or if he takes a piece that is on the last row with a pawn, he must replace it with a piece of his choice (Queen, Rook, Bishop or Knight), regardless of the pieces remaining on the board. He can thus end up with two Queens, or 3 Bishops, etc.

Castling is a special move that concerns the King and one of the two Rooks. When the King and this Rook are still on their initial squares and there are no more pieces between them, the player can move the King two squares towards the Rook, then place this Rook on the square right next to the King, on the other side.

Castling can be done on the kingside (this is called short castling) or on the queenside (this is called long castling).

Castling is a very special move: it is the only move where two pieces can be moved at once, it is the only move where the King moves two squares, and it is the only move where the Rook jumps over another piece.

Beware of the following rules that prevent castle temporarily or permanently. A player cannot castle if: there are one or more pieces between the King and the Rook the King or the Rook have already moved (and returned to their initial square).

Have a nice day and good game ;)

Hello everyone!

Welcome to a new opus of the "Offs du JJV"!

"The game is the first poem of existence."

If we appreciate a little the small and simple things of life, we can just as well appreciate a beautiful text, a beautiful song, a beautiful poem.

But before all things, we all begin to awaken to the world through toys and games. Children have always discovered and imitated their parents through imitation and board games.

One of these sweets that we have all known at one point in our lives. For me, the game began with a battle around the age of three with my grandfather and quickly evolved into chess at the age of 5.

My grandfather was convinced that the game allowed to create a bond and with time, I can see every day that I agree with him.

Sharing a moment around games is always a parenthesis out of time. A gift that has been given to us and that is just as sweet as a poem in our existence.

Who does not have memories of a game that has marked them. Whether it is chess, monoply, good pay to name a few among the classics. Or even azul, galerapagos, vegas or hive to name a few among more intermediate games.

We all have memories and good times shared around board games, like a beautiful madeleine of Proust. All these moments, recent or old, that I cherish all the others… ;)

Have a good day and good game ;)

2 words game Backgammon

2 words game Backgammon

On 05/09/2025

Hello everyone!

Today we're going to talk about Backgammon!

Place your pieces, with 2 players from 6 years old for 20 to 30 minutes, to try to get them out and win points!

The game board is divided into 4 frames or dials. Each frame is made up of 6 arrows. These represent the squares of the game. Each piece will move on these arrows according to the roll of the 2 dice.

The board is separated by the bar separating the inner frames from the outer frames. The Videau (Vido) is a 6-sided die whose values are: 2-4-8-16-32-64; it will be used to bid during the game. The 15 white and black pawns must be arranged on the board symmetrically.

Each player rolls the die, the one who rolls the highest die starts. The pawns move in opposite directions to each other. For white in a clockwise direction and for black in the opposite direction. The pawns never move back.

The player starting the game rolls his two dice. This roll of the dice indicates how many squares the player must advance his pawns.

The player can advance:

• 2 pawns each of the value of one of the dice

• 1 pawn of the value of the two dice combined.

Each pawn played can land on:

• An arrow occupied by pawns of its color

• An empty arrow

If the arrival arrow is occupied by 2 or more opposing pawns, movement is not possible. If the arrow is occupied by a single opposing pawn, the player's pawn takes the place of the opposing pawn, which is then captured and placed on the bar.

In all cases, you must always move forward exactly by the value obtained on the dice. If this is not possible, the player passes his turn.

When a player rolls a double (both dice are the same value), the points obtained are multiplied by two. For example, having rolled two 4s, you can move a pawn forward 16 squares; two pawns of 8 or a pawn of 4 and another of 12 or choose to move four pawns of 4. Each die must be feasible. A player cannot pass his turn if the move is possible.

When a pawn is going to stop on an arrow where there is only one opponent's pawn, he "takes" it. We say that the pawn is "captured". The opposing player then places his captive pawn on the central part of the board called the bar. He must absolutely remove his pawn(s) from this space to continue to advance his other pawns.

To put a captive pawn back into play, the player rolls both dice and can use one of the two dice that interests him. The value of the unused die is lost. You cannot put several pawns back into play at the same time. The pawn that comes into play takes "prisoner" the one on the arrival arrow (if it is alone and it is an opponent's pawn).

When all of a player's pawns have finally arrived in his home board, he will be able to remove them from the board. A pawn can only leave if it gets the exact number on the die (just beyond the edge of the board).

For example, if a pawn is 4 arrows away from the exit, it can exit with a 5. Once it is out, a pawn can no longer re-enter the game. The doubling cube, the 6-sided die (whose values are: 2-4-8-16-32-64) will indicate the number of points at stake in the game.

The game starts with a base value of 1 point. If during the game, a player thinks he has a chance of winning, he can ask to change the base value (before rolling his dice) by doubling the game.

His opponent can then accept and continue the game with a new stake that can evolve, be doubled again during the game and so on. The player who accepts the double will be the only one who can double the game again.

If the opponent on the other hand does not accept, he abandons the game and gives his opponent the number of points indicated by the doubling cube.

The first player to get his 15 pieces out wins the game. The winner scores the number of points indicated by the cube. If the losing player has not bought back or removed a single one of his pieces from the board, the winner is said to have made a Gammon. He multiplies the points on the cube by 2. If the losing player still has pieces in the winner's home board, or prisoners, the winner is said to have made a Backgammon. He multiplies the points on the cube by 3.

Dice and cones were used for divination and omens. They were thrown on the table. If the throw was good, it was a good omen, otherwise it did not bode well. The throw of Venus with the knucklebones brought luck in love if all the knucklebones were on their sides.

Hello everyone!

Welcome to a new opus of the "Offs du JJV"!

"Whoever goes will see; whoever stays will get nothing."

When I opened the store in June 2018, I didn't imagine that I would be offered such interesting collaborations. When I set up seven years ago, the gaming world was not present in Vaison and some people laughed at my project.

I had the pleasure of being invited to participate in the Buis les Baronnies gaming festival thanks to the Mistigri association. I didn't hesitate and tried to offer a stand worthy of the gaming festival that the association was offering.

I carried out a few external services that I would not have even considered when the store opened. I thought that the events would take place in Vaison and its surroundings, which was already not bad.

I had the opportunity to be discovered by Mac Donald of Saint Romain and then to take advantage of being contacted by public and private institutions in Vaison and its surroundings.

I am very happy to see that animations that were unknown when I opened the store are now well appreciated. I can make you enjoy and enjoy the fun world with you and that is priceless.

Sometimes abroad to animate, I appreciate all the times of animations that I share with you as much as each other. All these unique moments mark the history of the store and always enrich me a little more humanly.

2 words game Make a snake

2 words game Make a snake

On 29/08/2025

Hello everyone!

Today we're going to talk about Make a snake!

Help the snakes, from 2 to 4 players from 3 and more for 15 minutes, to know which one can place his head nearer to its tail !

The funny snakes in this children's game have decided to challenge each other to see who can get their head closest to their tail. Help them decide! Also try the cooperative mode with the lollipop hunt and the dragon egg, two variations to play together!

Principle of the game

Competitive mode

Game progress

Each player takes 1 snake head, 1 snake tail and 1 attachment, in the color of their choice.

During the game, you will add new tiles to your snake. Your snake's tail must be as close as possible to its head to win.

On your turn, roll the die, and choose a color from those shown by the die. Take the first tile from the corresponding pile. Attach this tile to your snake. You can roll your snake up on itself and cover the tiles.

End of the game

When there are only 2 stacks of tiles left, the players end the round and each player attaches their tail tile to their snake.

The player who gets the smallest distance between the tongue and the tail of their snake wins the game!

Cooperative mode (Lollipop hunt)

Your snake must touch the 4 lollipops!

The game is played in the same way as previously explained but the players all play together, with the same snake.

If any player manages to make the snake touch the 4 Lollipop tokens before 2 of the 4 stacks of tiles are exhausted, you all win the game!

Cooperative mode (The dragon egg)

Defeat the 3 guards and recover the stolen egg.

On your turn, roll the die, and add a tile to your snake according to the usual rules. The players all play together, with the dragon. It has 3 connectors for the snake heads and 1 connector for the tail. As soon as a snake body tile touches a guard token (you have beaten the guard), attach a snake head to it.

After beating the 3 guards, you can try to recover the stolen dragon egg. But be careful! The egg is fragile, you risk breaking it if you touch it. You must surround the egg with snake tiles.

If the players manage to beat the 3 guards and recover the dragon egg before 2 of the 4 stacks of tiles are exhausted, you all win the game! If you fail, don't hesitate to try again

JJV's Offs

JJV's Offs

On 24/08/2025

Hello everyone!

Welcome to a new opus of the "Offs du JJV"!

"The delicacy of gestures reveals that of feelings"

I have customers and players who are mostly adorable and I realize how lucky I am and am very grateful to you.

I recently had one of my players tell me that I was someone who was very attentive and caring and that it showed in my attitude and my gestures towards others in the store and in events.

I try every day to listen to you as much as possible, whether in the store or in events. It is important for me to try to meet your expectations as best I can.

My players tell me that I am always patient and that I made them laugh a lot in events and in the store, they thank me for my listening and my advice.

The children I work with call me "the smile fairy" and I find that adorable, because the most beautiful smiles are not mine, but theirs...

The human contacts we have enrich me and build my professional and personal experience. I am very happy that you are by my side on my playful path and to be able to offer you the nuggets that it offers us.

Have a good day and good game ;)
