With the Gold Rush craze in 1869, the first transcontinental railroad was completed in the United States – but in reality, it was only the beginning of a rapid expansion of railroads that would crisscross all the country.
In Whistle Stop, you head west across the country, using your new railroad company to build routes, pick up valuable goods, and deliver needed goods to growing towns, creating a network of train stops. whistle that you and your competitors can exploit as you move forward, continue to expand your networks.
Along the way, you gain shares in other railroads and watch your reputation soar with each successful delivery before making one last push to complete long hauls to the boom towns of the West.
This design is a new version of pickup and delivery games.
As players move their trains west and collect goods, they can deliver these goods to small towns to gain shares in the railroads, or hold them for a larger gain when they reach the coast west. At the same time, they try to optimize their actions (and gain additional ones), lay new track tiles, block other players, collect and use valuable whistles for moves and abilities special, and to carefully manage their coal resources.
