99 Ninjas is a competitive tile-laying game for two players, where participants use transparent cards featuring ninjas from three different clans to surround (and assassinate) Daimyos.
In this intense, strategic duel, you must deploy your ninjas to surround Daimyos (Japanese feudal lords) and catch your opponent off guard.
You’ll need to choose the right moment to place your tiles. And if you’re wondering about the count—all 99 ninjas are actually depicted on the cards!
99 Ninjas is a strategic card game involving tile placement, layering, and resource management, with elements of opportunism and betting. It is the latest addition to the Micro Dojo collection. Setup is quick—you’ll be ready to play in two minutes. Allow five minutes to explain the rules. You lead a Ninja clan; your goal is to eliminate the Samurai protecting the seven rebel Daimyos—those who refuse to acknowledge the Shogun's authority.
Succeeding in this mission will allow your own Daimyo to seize power. Turns are fast-paced and dynamic; you can start by switching clans and/or activating your clan's Technique. Next, place your Ninja card while adhering to placement constraints to eliminate the Samurai protecting one of the rebel Daimyos. Once the Samurai surrounding a Daimyo are eliminated, the Daimyo is eliminated as well.
The heart of the game lies in placing your Ninja cards strategically—not only to score points but, more importantly, to avoid giving your opponent the chance to eliminate a Daimyo instead of you, as your tokens will be crucial during the final resolution.
Of course, there is an element of luck when drawing Ninja cards, but you have the option to switch Clans at the start of your turn.
A solo mode is included, allowing you to play against an automated opponent, along with three gameplay modules: Blacklist, Ronin, and Clan Techniques.
